Hey friends,
Remembering today…September 11.
Twenty-five years.
I still know exactly where I was.
And now people are saying the United States deserved it!

Where I Was
I was in our little homeschool room, listening to the Christian radio station, when the news broke that there was a fire in one of the towers.
They were saying it was a possible small plane accident.
I turned on the news.
A few minutes later, I watched that second plane hit.
I immediately called my husband at work.
That was a very long day… watching it all unfold.
Praying for the first responders.
Watching the people.
I will say it the way I said it this morning, with no sugarcoating:
Never forget. It was a terrorist attack by Islamists.
Lord, help our country get back to You.

Featured Poem: REMEMBER
Remember where you were
Even if they rewrite the day
Make no peace with the lie
Evil flew those planes
Mothers, fathers, first responders
Buried under steel and flame
Entrust your anger to the Lord
Refuse to forget

Today’s Space Was Rough
Faith Fridays is usually worship, the Word, testimony, and prayer.
Today the calendar still said Take Delight.
Psalm 37 - Delight yourself in the Lord.
And then the date sat in the room like a weight.
I hosted anyway.
It was a little rough getting through it while remembering this day.
Not because God was absent.
Because memory is not neat.
Grief does not wait for a tidy outline.
Some of you were in that Space with me.
Thank you.
If you missed it, the replay is here:
Listen to today’s Space
And the post I wrote this morning is here: Never Forget
I Will Not Pretend to Not See What I See
I am angry.
I am angry that people have forgotten.
I am angry that some are saying it did not happen.
I am angry that others are saying the United States deserved it.
So much.
Forgetting is not healing.
Denial is not nuance.
And “they had it coming” is not justice.
It is cruelty dressed up as a take.
Nearly three thousand people went to work, boarded a plane, reported for duty, or sat in a classroom.
They did not sign up to become a talking point.
First responders ran toward the fire.
Passengers on Flight 93 fought back.
Families have been living with an empty chair for twenty-five years.
Others have died since from the dust and the injuries that followed.
It happened.
It was planned.
It was carried out by Islamic al-Qaeda jihadists who believed murdering civilians would serve their cause.
We do not honor the dead by ignoring or twisting the truth until it no longer offends anyone.
Read and Study
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea.”
Psalm 46:1–2 NASB95
“If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 NASB95
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Romans 12:21 NASB95

Think
Our study this morning about delight and then discussing remembrance are not opposites.
Psalm 37 does not ask us to smile past evil.
It asks us to plant our joy in the Lord so anger doesn't become the only thing in us.
I can tell the truth about what happened.
I can refuse the lie that it was a hoax.
I can refuse the lie that America deserved it.
And I can still take my anger into the throne room instead of letting it raise me.
Forgetting has been easy for some.
Memory costs something.
So does prayer. So does loving your neighbor without lying about who attacked our country and murdered almost 3000 people in 1 day.
Pray
Father,
You saw every person on those planes, in those towers, at the Pentagon, and in that field in Pennsylvania.
You saw the ones who ran in.
You see the families still carrying this day.
Help us forgive those who are growing casual with the truth.
Help us forgive those who are rewriting what is plain.
Forgive us when we call evil by softer names.
Help us never forget.
Help us tell the truth without becoming cruel.
Help us hate what is evil and cling to what is good.
Comfort the grieving.
Strengthen the first responders still paying the price.
Give wisdom to those who stand watch now.
Lord, help our country get back to You.
Heal what we cannot.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Where were you when you first understood what was happening?
Who do you refuse to forget?
What would “getting back to the Lord” look like in your actual house this week — not as a slogan, but as a next step?
Today’s post and Space were not a detour from Grace in the Glitch.
This is the glitch.
History breaks.
People lie about the break.
Grace still meets us there.
But Grace never asked us to forget.
I’m remembering with you,
Jennifer
